Albert “RickDaEngineer” Lambert is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Engineer of Late October Lifestyle LLC. RickDaEngineer, or RDE, was born in Washington, D.C., but spent his childhood vacillating between P.G. County, Maryland and Norfolk, VA. Often recalling significant life events by the music that was being heard at the time, RDE has always had an ear for music and expresses that music has engulfed him his entire life. RDE’s first introduction to music came in the form of rapping at the age of 9. Growing up in awe of the videos of LLCoolJ and being inspired by the lyricism of Nas in 1993, RDE realized that rap was a passion that he wanted to explore. Writing rhymes about the things that he’d seen and experienced while growing up in Southeast DC, Norfolk, VA, and Prince George’s County, MD, served as his method of releasing the things that were bottled up. As RDE’s life experiences and passion for rap grew he required more tracks to rap over and when that didn’t come consistently, he decided to produce tracks on his own. After getting into production, RDE utilized his musical acuteness to mix, record, and engineer, and he has continued this craft for 10 years. Though currently enrolled at Full Sail University, one could say that he is already a Renaissance man within the art of music.
For RDE, Late October Lifestyle is more than just about making popular music it is about providing a “feeling and experience” much like music did for him as a child, rather than conforming to the status quo. RDE aims for smooth and sophisticated production through the Late October Chess game of production and engineering. He is inspired by Ryan Leslie, Timothy Mosely, Roosevelt Harrell, Dominic Lamb, and Pharrell Williams. As a producer and engineer RDE wants his artists to know that he takes his time to get the best final product and feels that rapport and chemistry tremendously aids in that process. He adds that he genuinely enjoys making music and balances that with a sense of responsibility within the project therefore, he employs humility when receiving honest criticism and assistance. He cites Clifford Harris, Nasir Jones, and Shawn Carter as artists with whom he would like to work alongside. RDE’s personal mantra is that producing a project for a client is a team effort where everyone has to “steer in a common direction to reach the common destination”. Outside of Late October Lifestyle, RDE enjoys simplicity, Netflix with his wife, Basketball/fitness, sitting in complete silence, and appreciating rainy days. When asked what his musical aspiration is, one gathers that his sense of responsibility extends outside of just musical production when he says, “to make my passion my full-time profession, while providing for my family as well as the families of my business partners”.
